MacHeist 3 Bundle http://sidisok.com/2009/04/macheist-3-bundle/ http://sidisok.com/2009/04/macheist-3-bundle/#comments Mon, 06 Apr 2009 02:37:30 +0000 Sidney http://sidisok.com/?p=454 macheist3

I just bought the MacHeist 3 bundle, and the organizers have put together a delicious smorgasbord of software. With applications ranging from SousChef (an application for looking up recipes) to World of Goo (the most addicting game ever!) to BoinxTV (a prosumer application for real time video editing), there’s an application for everybody. The main attraction of MacHeist is the price: $1000+ worth of apps for just $39! If you have a Mac, grab your copy of the MacHeist bundle before it’s over! Here’s my invite link: http://www.macheist.com/bundle/u/312912/

My Thoughts on the Windows 7 Beta http://sidisok.com/2009/01/my-thoughts-on-the-windows-7-beta/ http://sidisok.com/2009/01/my-thoughts-on-the-windows-7-beta/#comments Mon, 12 Jan 2009 02:42:00 +0000 Sidney http://sidisok.com/2009/01/my-thoughts-on-windows-7/ I have finally gotten hold of the Windows 7 Beta, and first off it is a very welcome improvement over Vista.

Windows 7 Beta Taskbar

Windows 7’s redesigned taskbar (above) makes it easy to see what’s running and launch programs quickly. It seems as though Microsoft has copied Apple’s Dock, which is not a bad thing but something to note.

Windows 7 performs noticeably faster than Vista, in everything from booting to opening the Start Menu. Programs such as Internet Explorer 8 Beta load nearly instantaneously.

Gone away is the Windows Vista Sidebar. Now you can place your gadgets directly on your desktop, preserving a few much-needed pixels. I find this an improvement as the gadgets feel more integrated into the desktop as opposed to tacked-on like they were in Vista.

Windows Live Essentials (Movie Maker, Photo Gallery, Mail, Messenger, Writer, and more) are official Microsoft programs that can be downloaded onto your Windows 7 PC at no cost. Programs such as Windows Movie Maker and Windows Mail are no longer included with Windows but are now part of the Windows Live Essentials package. Some who do not use these programs may see this as an improvement, while others who rely on these programs may be slightly annoyed with the fact that they are not included with Windows.

Overall, Microsoft has put together a very solid product and I am looking forward to the final Windows 7 (or whatever it’ll be called then) release. It may even convince me to switch from Ubuntu!

Microsoft Opens a New Restaurant! http://sidisok.com/2008/12/microsoft-opens-a-new-restaurant/ http://sidisok.com/2008/12/microsoft-opens-a-new-restaurant/#comments Tue, 23 Dec 2008 04:20:11 +0000 Sidney http://sidisok.com/?p=162 Customer: Waiter!

Waiter: Hi, my name is Bill and I’ll be your support staff. May I please have your telephone number and address? Your visit may be monitored for training purposes. Now, please tell me your problem.
Customer: There’s a fly in my soup!

Waiter: Please exit the restaurant and re-enter through the front entrance. Is the fly still there?
Customer: Yes, the fly is still in my soup.

Waiter: Maybe it’s the way you’re using the spoon. Try ladling with the other hand.
Customer: Whichever hand I use to spoon the soup, the fly is still there.

Waiter: Maybe the soup is incompatible with the bowl; what kind of bowl are you using?
Customer: A SOUP bowl!

Waiter: It looks like a configuration problem; how was the bowl set up?
Customer: Your colleague brought the bowl on a saucer; what has that to do with the fly in my soup?

Waiter: What was the last thing you did before you noticed the fly in your soup?
Customer: I sat down and ordered the Soup of the Day!

Waiter: Have you considered upgrading to the latest Soup of the Day?
Customer: You have more than one Soup of the Day?

Waiter: Yes, the Soup of the Day is changed every 10 minutes.
Customer: Well, what is the Soup of the Day now?

Waiter: The current Soup of the Day is mushroom.
Customer: OK , I’ll try the mushroom soup.

Waiter: Here is your soup of the day.
Customer: This is celery soup.
Waiter: Yes, the mushroom soup is still in beta testing.

Funny!

Thanks to my friend David M. for emailing this to me!
